The Virginia Tech Helmet Lab is partnering with JRGF, TUAC, ASCC, and Electri to conduct industrial helmet (hard hat/safety helmet) impact performance research. By testing helmets under realistic conditions, we can identify the best-performing head equipment and create a publicly available rating system that will help advance industrial helmet technology.
To conduct tests representative of real-world head impacts experienced in an industrial setting, we need to learn how industrial workers get injured on a job site. We are asking industrial workers who have experienced a head impact or a “near-miss” while on the job to fill out this short survey to give us valuable information that can be used to recreate these head impacts in a laboratory setting. All survey takers will be asked 14 questions and depending on the response, an additional 2-4 questions may be asked.
We understand this information is extremely sensitive, and that you may be reluctant to share your experiences. As such, this entire survey will remain completely confidential and anonymous. No identifiable personal (i.e., name, date, contact information, location) or company information will be collected, and all data will be stored securely at Virginia Tech.
Your participation in this survey is greatly appreciated and will ultimately help reduce workplace traumatic brain injuries and deaths. Please feel free to distribute this survey to others who may have also experienced a workplace head impact.
