Location-Based Game for Social Play Over Distance
Thank you for your interest in our study!
We are exploring how Location-Based Games can support meaningful remote play between family members, friends, or romantic partners—especially when one person is outdoors and the other is participating remotely.

About the Study
Two individuals will participate together. You and a companion will playtest a prototype two-player game. Each participant will be assigned to one of the following roles:
  • On-campus player: Will participate outdoors on the Virginia Tech campus using a GPS-enabled mobile device. The on-campus player will move through outdoor areas such as Alumni Mall, the Pylons, and the Drillfield.
  • Remote player: Will participate from a location of their choice using a personal computer and Zoom video call.
Following the gameplay session, both participants will be asked to take part in a brief interview to discuss their experience.
