Study #23-298: Initial Screening
Thank you for your interest in participating in the study: "Ease your rage on the road: applying affective strategies to train young drivers in mitigating anger effect on driving performance!" We are seeking adults who are aged between 18 to 29 years old with valid driver's licenses to participate in our study.
 
Before you can participate, please read below for the study procedure.
 
This study will take place in the Mind Music Machine Lab rooms at Whittemore Hall, 519A or 568.
 
You will wear a smartwatch-like wearable device on your wrist during the experiment. You will be asked to drive in a driving simulator while we record your physiology (via the wrist device). You may also read some statements describing some road events that might elicit your emotions. During the study, you will also fill out some questionnaires to collect your experiences and performance. This research visit will take up to two hours.
 
At the end of your study completion, you will receive $10/hr or 0.5 credit/hr (for VT students only).

If you have read this study description and are interested in participating, please select "Yes, I give permission to begin the screening process" to begin the screening questions to determine whether you:
  • Are at least age 18 years old and aged between 18 -29.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Do not have active electrical implants (e.g., pacemaker).
  • Are not taking any type of beta-blocker medications.
  • Are not pregnant, or think you may be pregnant.
  • Have none of the following impairments: Visual, Hearing, Fine motor, Intellectual.
    • You are eligible if your hearing/vision is not at the level requiring device correction, or if you have successful device correction that you can bring and use during the study (e.g., eyeglasses, hearing aid). 
After you complete all the screening questions and have met our inclusion criteria, a member of the study team will contact you to schedule your in-person visit.
