McNair Scholar Assistantship Nomination

Virginia Tech supports the mission and students of the McNair Scholars Program.
Faculty are encouraged to ask students if they are McNair Scholars and nominate the student for this funding.

Funding is provided by the Graduate School and matched by the department to support the student's regular departmental assistantship rate and in-state tuition; the out-of-state fee is waived.

Students are responsible for paying their comprehensive fees.

Master's and doctoral level students are eligible for this award, however preference is given to doctoral candidates. The number of awards may vary from year to year. Departments can nominate up to 3 people.

To be eligible, students must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents entering their first year of graduate study.
