What should I know about being in a research study?
  • Someone will explain this research study to you.
  • Whether or not you take part is up to you.
  • You can choose not to take part.
  • You can agree to take part and later change your mind.
  • Your decision will not be held against you. You can ask all the questions you want before you decide. 
Why is this research being done?
This research will be used to inform the field about the values and usage of pedagogy by current agricultural science teachers. This study will inform how specific aspects of the school environment and teacher values impact pedagogical choices.
 
What should I know about this research study?
The purpose of this study is to identify agricultural teachers’ values related to pedagogy, teaching strategies, community context, student identity, and needs. Exploring agricultural teachers’ values will help to create better teacher training models to address the current needs of teachers. We expect your participation in this research study to last 30 minutes. You will be asked to complete a questionnaire about your beliefs and values. Afterwards, if you choose, you may be selected for a follow up interview that will last approximately one hour.

What happens if I say yes, I want to be in this research?
You will be asked to participate in a survey that asks questions related to your beliefs about pedagogy and school contexts.

How long will the research last and what will I need to do?
We expect that your participation in this research study will last less than 30 minutes.

Is there any way being in this study could be bad for me?
Risks are no more than would be expected in everyday life.

Will being in this study help me in any way?
We cannot promise any benefits to you or others from your taking part in this research. However, possible benefits include contributing to the knowledge base within teacher education.

What happens if I do not want to be in this research?
Taking part in research is completely up to you. You can decide whether to participate or not to participate.
