AI Storybook Reading Study IRB 22-357 (Home Visit)

Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s),

Thank you for your interest in our Virginia Tech research study (IRB 22-357) on shared book reading with an AI voice assistant. We are recruiting children ages 3 to 5 years who speak English, have not yet started kindergarten, and live in the New River Valley and surrounding areas of Virginia, USA, and their parents.

There will be 5 home visit sessions (20 min each).
- During two sessions, children will play math and word games.
- During three sessions, they will read a storybook with an Al smart speaker.
Parents will also complete a 10-minute online survey about their child's background and media use.
Families will receive a $25 Amazon gift card upon completion of the visit and the survey.
